MF2 MultiFunctionFilter 50 - 70cm
Multi Function Filter / Empty Filter / Universal Filter 50 with 1 liter volume made of acrylic glass for all aerobic filter processes in fresh and sea water. You may realize different filtration methods. The cap is equipped with the AquaCare Hybrid-System - circuitous screwing is not necessary during low pressure operation: for example if the filter stands inside of a filter sump.
Field of operation of the AquaCare Universal Filter:
submerged driven filter in downstream operation
submerged driven filter in upstream operation
fluidized bed operation = moving bed = MB
vertical flow filter = VFF
reversed fluidized bed filter = reverse moving bed = RMB
reversed vertical flow filter = RVFF
trickling filter = TF
larvae and eggs incubator
plankton tube
gas filters like air dryer, CO2 adsorber (carbon dioxide adsorber), activated carbon filter
Characteristics of the AquaCare Multi Filter:
suitable of a very large field of filter materials
even materials that are lighter than water are suitable
effective hold back of the material with inlet screen and filter sponge
easy handling by the AquaCare Hybrid-System: magnetic lock (up to 0.3e m pressure) and additional fixation by plastic screws (up to 3 m pressure)
1/4" BSP female connectors: delivered with 8 mm nozzle fittings
nearly maintenance-free (not downstream operation)
and of course made-in-germany, made of German quality acrylic material
Erection of the filter:
in the filter sump
external (beside, under or over the aquarium)
hang-on (outside at the aquarium)
hang-in (inside of the filter sump)
wall mounting
Necessary accessories:
water inlet supply with enough pressure (bypass of a main pump of a small pump)
adjustment device for the water inlet (e.g. valve or hose clamp)
if it cannot be guaranteed with fine filter material (e.g. quartz sand) that the particle size in the water inlet is less than 1 mm, a cleaning valve should be installed at the auxiliary connection.
conventional filter material or
AquaCare X-Globuli or AquaCare+Globuli
Functional description :
The feed water from the aquarium is pumped into the system by means of a bypass of the main pump or an additional feed pump. The inlet should be adjustable by a control valve. The following filter techniques can be realized with the MF2 filter (for some modes additional material is required):
Submersed operation in downstream mode: the water flows from top to bottom. If a fine filter material (e. g. quartz sand, zeolite) is used, the filter can remove particles from the water; however, it must then be rinsed regularly. We recommend a ventilation valve for operation.
Submersed operation in upstream mode: the water flows from bottom to top. This procedure is used to apply abrasion-sensitive filter materials (e. g. activated carbon, lime materials, simple phosphate adsorbers, sulphur granules)
Moving bed:the water flows from bottom to top at a high speed so that the filter material moves and cannot clog (e. g. quartz sand, zeolite, AquaCare +Globuli, high performance phosphate adsorbers, bio-pellets)
Vertical-Flow-Filter (VFF): The water flows from bottom to top, so that the filter material in the central tube is pulled up and falls down again in the main tube. This operation achieves a longer residence time and mixes non-uniform material better (e. g. quartz sand, zeolite, AquaCare +Globuli, AquaCare-X-Globuli, high-performance phosphate adsorbers).
Reverse Moving Bed: for filter materials that are lighter than water, a fluidized bed filter can be realized in which the water flows through the filter from top to bottom. The floating filter material is carried along by the water flow. An additional sieve element is required.
Reverse Vertical-Flow-Filter (RVFF): see circulation filter, except that the flow direction is from top to bottom and the filter material is lighter than water. An additional sieve element and an additional connector (e.g. valve) is required.
Trickling filter: The water flows from top to bottom through the filter material - in the filter there is an air atmosphere. For more effective oxygenation, an air pump can be connected to the lid connection. An additional sieve element and an additional connector (valve) is required.
Eggs and larvae incubator: Eggs that are no longer cared for by their parents can be hatched in the larval incubator. An additional sieve element is required.
Algae tube: you need a smaller fitting for the air supply, a drain valve and a light source (fluorescent tube, LED strip, sunlight).
