This insect food should be the starting point for your entire supplement program if you keep a pet that eats insects. Our premium formula is a very palatable nutritional booster for feeder insects. Loaded with essential vitamins and minerals and natural color enhancers, it ensures the best nutrition is passed on to your pet.
Like all enlightened reptile breeders, we have learned, over the years, to care for our feeder insects in order to pass on a decent level of nutrients to our pets. Several decades ago, giving good live food was limited to putting a slice of potato or carrot in the bowl and we thought that was enough. This practice is unfortunately still common today. This needs to be rectified and, with a little information, we need to improve the diet of our animals.
We introduced Insect Food because we found that many "gut loading" products on the market contained few valuable ingredients.
So why do we need to take care of our insects and what are the benefits?
First, we have a moral obligation to provide the best possible conditions for all animals in our care, regardless of their intended use.
Second, by adopting good husbandry practices, you can pass on a healthy, fully nutrient-loaded meal to your reptile.
The digestive system and dietary needs of our animal come from its parents from the natural environment. Huge progress has been made in breeding and understanding the needs of our animals by trying to recreate terrariums that replicate a "natural" habitat. Hobbyists also understand the need to replicate the life force of natural sunlight, which provides heat through visible and ultraviolet light. Diet and its effects on the welfare of our animals have also been well documented, but the question is how to relate this to a realistic diet that we can all adhere to.
How to improve the quality and longevity of your live food.
      1. Have a suitable container
You will need at least two containers suitable for housing your live food.
      2. Place it in a suitable place
Keep your insect enclosure at an average room temperature, such as a windowsill where it can be exposed to drafts or direct sunlight.
      3. Put your insects in the container
Gently transfer all of your live food into the clean container, keeping the egg crate piece to give the insects more surface area to move around or seek shelter.
      4. Get rid of the sound!
This is only there for aesthetic reasons and you really don't want bugs eating this. Bran contains a unique natural substance called phytic acid which hinders the absorption of minerals such as iron, zinc, magnesium and especially calcium.
      5. Hydrate
Store-bought insects need to be hydrated as quickly as possible, as they may have been without a food or moisture source for a week.
      6. Pet Food with Insect Food
This is where insect food really shines. Made from premium ingredients, it makes it easy to get solid nutrition and, when mixed with clean water, a premium source of hydration.
      7.Feed daily
Feed your insects every day as much food as they usually consume in 24 hours.
      8. Feed your animals live up to a week before using
When you purchase your fresh live food, store it for at least a week in the proper conditions we have set out to give your reptiles the best possible food. Rotating between the two bins allows you to always have clean, fresh and quality food.
      9. Supplement
Before using your insects, sprinkle them with a good quality supplement to provide them with vitamins and minerals to achieve a positive calcium profile. This is where the other two products in the range, Vit A Min and Calcium Ultra, fill in the gaps in the diet.
      Main ingredients
      Alfalfa
Alfalfa is widely considered a superfood and valued for its superior nutritional content. It is a good natural source of a range of nutrients, including many vitamins and minerals - including iron, magnesium, manganese, vitamins A, C and E and several B vitamins, as well as good quality fiber . It is also eaten by many grazing animals in the wild and has been cultivated as livestock feed for hundreds of years.
      Calcium carbonate
We hear a lot about calcium and its benefits for reptiles, but this refers to the common natural form, calcium carbonate. It is abundant in nature and found in limestone, chalk and the fossilized remains of early marine life. It is essential for strong bones and many other important functions.
      Carrot
Carrots contain the best-known carotenoid, carotene, are rich in vitamins and minerals and beta-carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A. This nutrient promotes good vision and is important for growth, development and function immune.
They also contain vitamin B7, formerly called vitamin H, biotin, which plays an important role in the metabolism of fats and proteins. A group of related vitamins, B6, is involved in converting food into energy.
Interestingly, they also contain vitamin K1, which is important for blood clotting and bone health.
Carrots also have good levels of potassium, which is an essential and important element for many bodily functions.
      Spinach
Spinach is a nutritious green leafy vegetable, rich in fiber and packed with vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, B2, B6, B9, C, E, K1, iron, magnesium and calcium. Spinach is also considered a superfood containing a host of nutrients and antioxidants and is listed as having many other health benefits.
      Bee pollen
This is probably the most talked about reptile supplement in recent years, and rightly so, as it contains a high amount of nutrients with many benefits. It contains more than 250 biologically active components and is rich in minerals and antioxidants.
      Spirulina with DHA
It’s an algae that we cultivated especially for us. It is extremely nutrient dense and contains almost the full spectrum of B vitamins which are essential for central nervous system and brain health. Rich in many other essential vitamins and minerals, spirulina's nutrients are highly bioavailable and are easily broken down by the digestive system.
Containing all 9 essential amino acids, spirulina has a high net protein utilization, meaning it is 85% – 95% digestible – and its amino acids are delivered to the body for almost instant absorption.
Spirulina also contains the phytochemical phycocyanin, the pigment that gives spirulina its blue-green hue. Often called a "wonder molecule," studies of phycocyanin have shown that it has extremely high antioxidant activity and is potently anti-inflammatory.
Gram for gram, spirulina is perhaps the most nutritious food on the planet, containing 26 times more calcium than milk.
      Papaya
Papaya is rich in fiber, vitamins A, C, E and antioxidants like beta-carotene which helps prevent damage caused by free radicals.
      Silicic acid
Silicic acid is a natural compound of the mineral substance silicon and oxygen. It can bind to various harmful and toxic substances, including pathogens. This makes them harmless, so they can be eliminated naturally through the intestines and out of the body.
Silicic acid exists naturally in seawater as well as in sand, quartz and even in the human body. Orthosilicic acid is found in tissues, bones, tendons, kidneys and liver, and is necessary for life.
This mineral content is also found in food sources such as beets, brown rice, peppers, soybeans, alfalfa, leafy green vegetables like collard greens, and whole grains.
      Mango
Although we use mango primarily as a natural attractant, it also contains a high amount of nutrients and antioxidants.
Mangoes contain over 20 different vitamins and minerals, one serving provides 35% of your daily vitamin A, 100% of your daily vitamin C, and 10% of your daily vitamin B6.
