The EHEIM biopower 200 internal filter offers multi-stage biological and mechanical filtration, comparable to an external filter. Its modular design and swivel pump head ensure great flexibility and crystal-clear water for your aquarium.
The EHEIM biopower 200 internal filter is the ideal solution for high-performance and complete filtration of your aquarium. Inspired by the aquaball concept, it offers multi-level filtration comparable to that of an external filter, while remaining compact and easy to install.
Its particularity lies in its closed filter baskets, filled with highly effective filter media, including the famous SUBSTRAT-pro. These filter media promote the establishment of a beneficial bacterial flora, essential for the degradation of organic waste and the conversion of harmful substances such as ammonia and nitrites.
A suction basket, located at the base of the filter, contains filter cartridges for mechanical and biological pre-filtration. Water is sucked in from below, then pumped upwards through the different filtration layers, before being returned clean and clear to the aquarium.
The spherical pump head is fully swiveling, allowing you to direct the water flow according to your needs and optimize circulation in the aquarium. The modular design of the filter also facilitates its maintenance and possible extension with additional filtration modules.
The EHEIM biopower 200 comes complete with the filter media necessary for its operation, allowing you to immediately enjoy healthy and balanced water for your fish and plants.

The frequency of cleaning the filter depends on the organic load of your aquarium. In general, it is recommended to clean the mechanical filter media (pre-filter cartridges) every 2 to 4 weeks. Biological filter media (SUBSTRAT-pro) can be cleaned less frequently, about every 3 to 6 months, taking care not to clean them too vigorously to preserve the bacterial colony.
Although the EHEIM biopower 200 is primarily designed for freshwater aquariums, it can be used in a small saltwater aquarium, provided that the filter media are adapted and regular maintenance is performed. It is important to monitor water parameters and adjust filtration accordingly. For larger marine aquariums, it is generally preferable to opt for an external filter or a sump.
To replace the filter media, turn off the filter and remove it from the aquarium. Open the filter baskets and remove the old filter media. Rinse the new filter materials with aquarium water before inserting them into the baskets. Replace the baskets in the filter and turn it back on. It is advisable not to replace all the filter media at the same time to preserve the biological balance of the aquarium.
