Thebulb HQI 400W 14 000°K is the reference light source for deep marine aquariums. It combines exceptional penetration power with a natural blue white spectrum, ideal for the growth and fluorescence of your SPS and LPS corals.
Metal halide lighting (HQI/HIT) remains one of the most efficient solutions to reproduce the natural reflections of the sun on the water surface. With this 400W bulb in 14 000°K, you offer your aquarium reef a luminous intensity capable of supporting the most energy-intensive corals, even placed on the bottom of the tank.
The 14 000°K rendering offers a perfect balance: it is white enough for a powerful luminous rendering, while integrating the blue tips necessary to bring out the fluorescent pigments of your corals. Unlike 10,000°K bulbs, it avoids the often unwanted "yellow" visual appearance in seawater.
This bulb requires a suitable 400W ballast (ferromagnetic or electronic) and a reflector equipped with an E40 socket.

The advice of the expert RecifArt: To maintain a stable spectrum and avoid the proliferation of algae associated with the aging of the bulb, we recommend replacing your HQI bulb every 10 to 12 months. When installing, avoid touching the glass with bare fingers (use a soft cloth or gloves) to avoid creating hot spots that could weaken the bulb.
The 14 000°K bulb offers an intense blue spectrum that enhances the fluorescence of corals while maintaining natural brightness. This is the ideal compromise between growth (boosted by white) and reef aesthetics (emphasized by blue).
This light bulb has a cap E40 (big screw cap). It is compatible with all headlamps and reflectors equipped with a standard E40 socket accepting 400W HIT lamps.
A 400W HQI (HIT) bulb requires a suitable 400W ballast (ferromagnetic or electronic) to operate. Never connect this bulb directly to a 230V power outlet without ballast.
In marine aquariophilia, it is recommended to change the bulb every 10 to 12 months. After this delay, the spectrum deviates to red (favouring unwanted algae) and the luminous intensity decreases, impacting the health of your corals.
