Atlantic Icon Compact LED Specter
As a continuously developing company, Orphek has taken its decade of research and testing to achieve a scalable spectrum based on the Atlantik V4 spectrum, but intelligently improved, now offering the new Atlantik iCon Compact, with not only new spectrum, but we have also reorganized the entire LED matrix so that you can control each color bandwidth separately, giving you more control over the appearance of the colors.
Specter Atlantik iCon Compact for better coloring and protection of corals
Corals contain proteins, and these colorful molecules react differently to light. Some are believed to protect the coral and its symbiotic zooxanthellae from excessive amounts of light, while others are believed to fluoresce wavelengths of light that can aid photosynthesis.
Orphek researched and developed each channel with a combination of colors and quantity of LEDs according to the needs of the corals; respect their natural response to wavelengths of light; and to provide the best spectrum of color, health and growth, while giving your tank a natural look, mimicking nature to its fullest.
The new Atlantik iCON Compact has achieved the perfect balance between the needs of clear corals and the overall look you want to see in your aquarium.
Channel 1: Sunrise and sunset tint (6000K)
Full spectrum from 400 to 780 nm This channel will give you the natural color of sunrise and sunset. It is a spectrum of warm colors.
This channel contains: 3 white LEDs 18000K, 2 infrared LEDs 730nm and 2 orange LEDs 590nm - giving 6158K.
Orange 590nm adds an amber color to the spectrum: orange-red light can penetrate deeper into coral tissue, essentially allowing the coral to spoon-feed the zooxanthellae with the light it needs.
A dominant fluorescent emission of coral is observed in the red wavelengths (580-600 nm).
730nm infrared LEDs - Chlorophyll f - rapid energy transfer occurred from red Chl a to Chl f in the PS I and PS II complexes. In addition, the absorption of light by the coral skeleton is relatively improved at the wavelengths of red and infrared and is thus reflected through the coral tissue containing zooxanthellae.
Channel 2: Solar noon tint (18,000K)
This channel will give you the natural color halfway between sunrise and sunset. It is a very clear and bright spectrum.
This channel contains 7 X 18000 white LEDs - giving 17905K.
Full spectrum from 400 to 700 nm. Center 447 nm and peak 517 nm. These wavelengths are important in the photosynthesis of zooxanthellae - chlorophylls a and c2 use blue while the accessory pigment peridinin absorbs green light up to about 450nm.
Channel 3: Cyan blue tint (490nm, 470nm) Symbiotic protection
This channel will give you the natural color of sea water under a clear day sun.
This channel contains: 3 LEDs 490nm and 3 LEDs 470nm.
470nm beta-carotene is a photopigment found in at least some zooxanthellae. It also acts as a protective antioxidant agent.
Xanthophylls 490 nm (oxygenated carotenoids) are also present in zooxanthellae. Two xanthophylls (diadinoxanthin and diatoxanthin) play an important role in protecting symbiotic algae and host corals from excessive light energy.
Channel 4: Blue tint (447 nm) Chlorophyllec2
It is the natural color of a deep blue ocean, blue light makes a natural reef aquarium appear but more importantly, chlorophylls absorb this light and use it in photosynthesis.
This channel contains 7 450nm LEDs.
Chlorophyllec2 is the most common form of chlorophyll c. Its absorption maxima are around 447 nm.
Channel 5: violet tint (420-430nm) chlorophyll a and C2
This channel contains 4 430nm Violet LEDs and 3 420nm Violet LEDs.
The wavelengths of 400-430nm are very useful in photosynthesis - they can be absorbed by chlorophylls a and c2. the broad purple band of 400-430 nm was found to be essential for the excitation of fluorescent proteins.
Channel 6: UV / violet tint chlorophyll a
This channel contains 4 UV / purple 415nm LEDs and 3 UV / purple 400nm LEDs.
These wavelengths are useful in photosynthesis - they can be taken up by chlorophyll a. They can also excite fluorescent proteins present in many corals. It is also possible that these induce the expression of some of these colored proteins (both fluorescent and reflective in nature).
