Ensure a stable and healthy aquatic environment for your fish and plants with this simple and accurate test. Monitor and adjust your aquarium's gH for a perfect balance.
The Sera gH Test 15 ml is the essential tool to accurately measure the total hardness (gH) of your aquarium water. Adequate total hardness is crucial for the health and well-being of your fish and aquatic plants. An imbalance can lead to growth problems, reproduction issues, and even diseases.
This easy-to-use test allows you to regularly monitor the gH of your aquarium and intervene quickly in case of unsuitable values. 🌊
Usage:
Perform gH tests regularly to track the evolution of your water and ensure a stable and healthy environment. ✨
For approximately 420° dGH (x 1.78 = French TH value). In case of total hardness that is too low, we recommend sera mineral salt. Total hardness that is too high can be lowered by mixing the water with osmosis water. To obtain soft water, we recommend adding sera blackwater aquatan or filtering through sera super peat.

The interpretation of the gH test results depends on the species of fish and plants you keep in your aquarium. In general, a total hardness (gH) between 6 and 12 °dGH is considered ideal for most community aquariums. However, some species prefer softer water (gH less than 6 °dGH) or harder water (gH greater than 12 °dGH). Consult the specific needs of your species to adjust the gH accordingly.
It is recommended to perform the gH test regularly, ideally once a week, to monitor the evolution of the total hardness of your water. Sudden changes in gH can stress your fish and affect the growth of your plants. If you notice significant variations, look for the causes (water change, addition of decorations, etc.) and correct the situation.
To increase the total hardness of your aquarium, you can use products specifically designed for this purpose, such as the Sera Mineral Salt, which add essential minerals to the water. To decrease the total hardness, you can mix the water of your aquarium with osmosis water or use ion exchange resins. Adding peat wood or oak leaves can also help soften the water naturally.
