Fresh water alkalinity photometer
This measurement is important to define the corrosive characteristics of water, due mainly to hydroxide, carbonate and bicarbonate ions, and to anions which cause hydrolysis such as phosphates, silicates, borates, and the salts of some organic acids. Measuring alkalinity is essential when monitoring soil, drinking water treatment, waste, heating and cooling systems. In aquariums, alkalinity determines the buffering capacity of water, ie its ability to maintain a constant pH.
