Weir systems were used in public aquariums to aerate surface water and create a "wave-like" flow of water. However, it is also a nightmare to maintain, as salt deposits form all over the equipment.

Now the weir system can be replaced with the Gyre Pro XFP1400, which also aerates the surface water and creates natural wave motion, without the drawbacks of weir systems.
