Decorative and useful, the mopani root is just as favored as the mangrove root. If its appearance is quite different, its qualities are the same. It is effectively used as a hiding place for fish, but also brings a natural and aesthetic side adulated by aquarists. These roots release a harmless tannin appreciated by the fish that colors the water and reinforces the natural aspect of the aquarium. This tannin can be removed by boiling the root beforehand or by filtration. These roots can also be used in terrariums.
